The Yacht Club was founded in 1990 by members of the South Gulf Cove community. Currently our membership consists of over 360 member households (390 individuals). The Yacht Club's mission is based on, but not limited to the following:
  • To promote boating, recreational and social activities, and fellowship,
  • To participate in greater aspects of boating in the state of Florida,
  • To participate in civic projects which relate to the quality and use of the navigable waters of Charlotte County and surrounding areas.

The Yacht Club has been recognized as the premier social organization within South Gulf Cove. We organize various events and activities, some on the water and some on land. Water activities include raft-ups in the Interceptor Lagoon, poker runs, luncheon trips to various restaurants around Charlotte Harbor and beyond, overnight trips to resorts in Southwest Florida, the Florida Keys, and the east coast of Florida, and an annual Lighted Boat Parade in December. Land events include themed dinner dance parties such as Sweetheart Dance, St. Patrick's Day, and Halloween, plus other events such as Lobster & Clam Bake, Tampa Bay Lightning games, Polo, golf tournaments, car shows, and much more.
